Core Values

At Surman, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, grow in a safe and healthy environment, and look forward to a better future.

We also believe that meaningful change happens when people come together. An organization can create opportunities, but it is the support, time, skills, and compassion of people like you that help make those opportunities possible.

That is why we welcome people from all walks of life to become a part of the Surman Family. Whether you are a student, professional, artist, homemaker, or simply someone who wants to help, your time and abilities can make a real difference in a child's life.

By volunteering with us, you can help children learn, stay healthy, discover their talents, and become more confident about their future.

Teaching

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela

Education is at the heart of Surman's work. We believe every child deserves the chance to learn, ask questions, discover their abilities, and grow into a confident and independent individual.

Our volunteers can support children in a variety of subjects, from basic reading and writing to mathematics, science, social studies, and languages.

You don't have to be a professional teacher to make a difference. If you have patience, knowledge, and a genuine interest in helping children learn, you can make their learning experience more enjoyable and meaningful.

Sometimes, the encouragement of one caring person is enough to make a child believe in their own abilities

 Hygiene Education

Good health begins with simple everyday habits. Personal hygiene, cleanliness, and proper sanitation can play an important role in protecting children from illness and helping them grow up healthy.

At Surman, we help children understand these habits in simple and practical ways. Volunteers can make learning about hygiene engaging and easy to understand — from regular handwashing and dental care to menstrual hygiene and keeping their surroundings clean.

The goal isn't simply to teach children what to do, but to help them understand why these habits matter and make them a natural part of everyday life.

Skill Development

Education goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. Children also need opportunities to explore their interests, express themselves, develop confidence, and discover what they enjoy doing.

Our Skill Development Program gives children a space to learn through creativity, activity, and practical experiences.

We welcome volunteers who can share their talents and conduct workshops or regular sessions in areas such as:

  • Theatre & Drama

  • Dance & Music

  • Painting & Design

  • Martial Arts — Taekwondo, Karate, etc.

  • Sports & Fitness

  • Storytelling & Poetry

  • Public Speaking & Debate

Whether you teach a child a new skill, help them discover a hidden talent, or simply encourage them to step outside their comfort zone, your contribution can stay with them for years to come.

Be a Part of the Surman Family

You don't need to make a huge commitment to make a meaningful difference. Your time, knowledge, creativity, or simply your willingness to help can become a valuable part of a child's journey.
